Original Red Sandalwood — Rakta Chandan
Red Sandalwood is valued for its distinctive natural appearance and its place in Indian spiritual traditions. Traditionally known as Rakta Chandan, it is used in various devotional and ritual practices.
A 108-bead Red Sandalwood Jap Mala provides a traditional structure for mantra repetition, with one bead representing one repetition of the chosen mantra.
Spiritual Uses
Traditionally, Red Sandalwood malas may be used for:
- Daily japa and mantra recitation
- Meditation and concentration
- Puja and devotional practices
- Personal sadhana
- Keeping with a deity or in a place of worship
Red Sandalwood is traditionally associated with devotional practices connected with deities such as Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman and Goddess Lakshmi. These associations are rooted in spiritual tradition and belief and are not claims of guaranteed medical or supernatural benefits.
Customise Your Red Sandalwood Mala
At Ishwar Tattva, your mala does not have to be exactly like everyone else’s. Choose from our available customisation options:
-
Beads: Combine different natural wooden beads in one mala
-
Construction: Choose between traditional thread and string
-
Guru Bead: Select your preferred Guru bead style and material
-
Tassel: Choose the quality, style and colour of your tassel
Your mala can be created around your own preference, practice and aesthetic.
How to Use Your Mala
Begin with the bead next to the Guru bead. Hold the mala gently and use your thumb and middle finger to move one bead at a time while reciting your mantra. Complete one mantra per bead. When you reach the Guru bead, do not cross it — turn the mala around and continue in the opposite direction.
Care & Storage
Natural Red Sandalwood should be handled with care. Avoid prolonged contact with water, excessive moisture, perfumes and harsh chemicals. When not in use, keep your Red Sandalwood Mala in a clean mala bag or soft cloth pouch.
Authentic material. Thoughtful craftsmanship. A mala made for your practice.
