108 Bead Karungli Mala
The number 108 holds a special place in Indian spiritual traditions. Each bead can be used for one repetition of a mantra, allowing the practitioner to maintain a steady rhythm during japa.
The Guru bead marks the completion of one cycle. Traditionally, the Guru bead is not crossed — instead, the mala is turned around and the next round is continued in the opposite direction.
Traditional Spiritual Significance
Karungli, traditionally identified with ebony wood, has long been valued in spiritual practices for its association with grounding, protection, strength and devotion.
These are traditional spiritual associations and should not be understood as guaranteed physical, medical or supernatural effects.

How to Use Your Karungli Jap Mala
Sit comfortably in a clean and peaceful space. Hold the mala gently and begin with the bead next to the Guru bead. Using your thumb and middle finger, move one bead for every repetition of your chosen mantra. Continue until you reach the Guru bead — do not cross it. Turn the mala around and continue in the opposite direction.
Care Instructions
Karungli is a natural wood, so gentle care helps preserve its character and finish. Keep your Karungli Mala away from prolonged exposure to water, excessive moisture, perfumes and harsh chemicals. When not in use, store it in a clean mala bag or cloth pouch.
