108 Bead Devadaru Mala
The traditional 108-bead arrangement provides a structured rhythm for mantra recitation. Use one bead for each repetition of your mantra and continue until you reach the Guru bead. The Guru bead marks the completion of the cycle and is traditionally not crossed.
Traditional Significance
Devadaru is traditionally respected for its connection with the Himalayas and its place in Indian spiritual and cultural traditions. A Devadaru Mala can become a simple physical reminder to return to your mantra, your breath and your practice.
Customise Your Devadaru Mala
At Ishwar Tattva, we believe your mala can be as individual as your spiritual practice. Customisation options include:
- Combining different wooden beads in one mala
- Selecting your preferred Guru bead
- Choosing the colour and quality of your tassel
- Choosing between thread and string
- Selecting the available bead size
How to Use Your Mala
Sit in a clean and quiet place. Begin with the bead next to the Guru bead and move one bead at a time with your thumb and middle finger while reciting your mantra. When you reach the Guru bead, reverse direction instead of crossing it.
Care & Storage
Keep your natural wooden mala away from prolonged water exposure, excessive moisture, perfumes and harsh chemicals. Store your Devadaru Jap Mala in a clean mala bag or cloth pouch to help protect the natural wood.
